Acupuncture: an ancient component of Chinese Medicine that uses extremely fine needles or pressure to fix imbalances in the body's vital energy, which is also called Qi/Chi. It is especially good for acute and chronic pain, inflammation, allergies, infertility, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, weight loss and smoking cessation.. Shiatsu: a Japanese form of physical therapy and therapeutic massage, based on traditional Chinese medicine. It combines massage, gentle physical manipulation, and pressure along channels or rivers of energy called meridians. Naturopathic Care: Naturopathic care seeks to identify and remove the underlying cause of disease instead of merely suppressing symptoms. Naturopathic care focuses on each person as a unique individual, taking into account the impact of emotional, mental and physical states, as well as environmental and social influences on a person’s health. LaStone or Hot Stone Therapy: involves the use of heated and cooled stones applied to the body to bring about relief to tired and sore muscles, alleviating chronic and acute symptoms. In addition to being a deep-tissue healing treatment, LaStone therapy is also a very good detoxification program, an excellent immunity system booster, as well as a relaxant for the mind. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique): a technique that utilizes meridian tapping to release emotions that become stuck in the body. Our body is a system of energy centers that become out of balance through stress, illness, grief, sadness, accidents and a host of other life experiences. These life experiences show up as pain, insomnia, anxiety, stomach issues etc. EFT treatment helps us bring ourselves back into balance by releasing the core emotion causing the imbalances, thus reducing and often eliminating the problematic symptoms. Hypnosis is accomplished through relaxation, quieting the mind and the use of guided imagery by the hypnotist. Studies have shown that our brain cannot tell the difference between what is visualized and that which is experienced, and so accepts the visualization as real and is an effective change mechanism. Through visualization, we are setting the stage and creating a healthy, balanced outcome. Hawaiian Temple Bodywork -- Lomi Lomi: a flowing form of massage based on ancient rites of passage designed to enlighten one's body, mind and spirit while freeing the body Sound therapy: Vibrational Sound Therapy is a powerful, deeply transformational, non-invasive healing treatment that incorporates sound and vibration to re-harmonize and attune the human energy field to achieve optimal health, actualization and wholeness. Harmonically attuned Tibetan singing bowls, hand chimes, bells and calibrated tuning forks are used to create the sound for this therapeutic approach. Swedish Massage: a classical massage technique which uses therapeutic stroking and kneading of muscle tissue to promote stress relief. It is used to improve circulation, relieve muscle pain and tension, increase flexibility and induce relaxation. It combines three basic strokes to the skin: long, firm strokes; kneeding strokes; and small circles. Cranio-sacral Therapy: a holistic healing practice that uses light touch to balance the cranio-sacral system in the body. Great for migraines, neck and back pain, TMJ, chronic fatigue, arthritis, carpal tunnel and stress. Thai Massage: a compression style of massage which uses yoga positions to gently stretch, bend and pull the body. Great for increasing range of motion and flexibility. Reiki: a natural Japanese healing art which channels universal life energy into the body by a gentle placing of the hands in specific positions on or above the body. Reiki can help to alleviate pain while promoting relaxation and a general sense of well-being. Reflexology: a form of massage in which pressure is applied to parts of the feet and hands in order to promote relaxation and healing elsewhere in the body. Based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Body Polish or Seaweed Wrap: stimulate circulation and soothe the skin. Wraps have been used for centuries as a cleansing technique. The ultimate ant-aging treat for the mind and body. Relax while your body is exfoliated. Nutritional Counseling: working with individuals or groups to help improve health through the incorporation of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds while moving away from processed foods. Individualized diet plans for children, teenagers and adults. Benefits people with diabetes, heart disease, allergies, weight loss, cancer and much more. Ear candling: a method that removes ear wax and "toxins" from a person's ear. Also called ear coning. It involves placing a hollow candle in the ear canal and lighting it; the rising hot air pulls out the toxins and wax. Ayurvedic Shirodhara: The word shirodhara breaks down into two ideas: "shiro," meaning head, and "dhara," which means flow. Together they form a concept that aims to bring physical and emotional balance by rejuvenating the spirit and preserving health. This is achieved through a relaxing technique in which warmed oil is poured over a client's forehead, followed by a massage of the marma points, which are similar to acupressure points.. Oncology massage: at its most basic, oncology massage is bodywork that is designed specifically for the needs of people who are dealing with cancer and its treatments. The main focus is to enhance healing while "doing no harm" to people whose bodies have lowered immune systems and who are at risk for developing lymphedema stressed by surgery, radiation or chemotherapy treatments. Neurofascial release: was discovered in 1987 by Stephen Myles Davidson, D.O., C-SPOMM. It is part of the family of techniques which are practiced by osteopathic physicians and commonly referred to as Osteopathic Manipulation. Neurofascial release works essentially at the level of one type of connective tissue which is called the "fascia". The connective tissue is the glue which holds us together by connecting one part of the body to another. Prenatal massage: shares many of the goals of regular massage -- to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly. Deep Tissue Massage: a massage technique utilizing a heavier pressure. It focuses on shortened muscles and/or distorted postural patterns. With slow deep strokes, the therapist works to lengthen the muscle fibers, to restore balance, to reestablish structural and functional integrity and to increase range of motion to the greatest degree possible. Rolfing or Structural Integration: a deep massage technique developed by Dr. Ida Rolf (1878-1979) which facilitates the alignment of the body. By applying careful, systematic manual pressure, a Rolfer relieves chronic restrictions, thereby freeing the body to re-organize at very deep levels into its natural balanced symmetry. Rolfing is excellent therapy for many forms of chronic pain and restricted postures or movement. |
